Taurus

Wall-Mounted Assemblage Sculpture - Found Objects & Mixed Media - 2026

Overview

Taurus is a one-of-a-kind assemblage sculpture by Emmanuel Marti that channels the primal force, endurance, and raw power of the bull. Built around a distinctive horn-shaped form and finished with a weathered iron patina, the sculpture evokes the presence of an ancient guardian shaped by time and adversity. Drawing from the mythology of the Minotaur and Emmanuel's childhood experiences in the South of France, Taurus transforms familiar materials into a commanding expression of strength and untamed energy.

The Story Behind
Taurus

Discover the childhood memories, mythology, and deeper symbolism behind this powerful exploration of creation, destruction, and the forces that shape existence.

Growing up in the South of France, the annual running of the bulls inspired both fear and respect in the artist. The exhilarating cry of "Les Taureaux arrivent!!!" and the heart-pounding rush of narrowly escaping the charging animals left an unforgettable impression that continues to resonate today.

Taurus channels the primal fury of the bull, the mythology of the Minotaur, and the untamed force of nature itself. Constructed around a powerful horn-shaped piece of gym equipment and finished with a weathered rusty iron patina, the sculpture evokes the presence of an ancient guardian forged through time, endurance, and raw strength.

As the symbolic counterpart to AP1S—the creator and provider—Taurus represents destruction as a necessary force within the cycle of existence. Together, the two works explore the enduring balance between opposing energies: creation and destruction, gentleness and power, renewal and decay.
